About the TEA
From the revered tea-growing region of Mangang, Menghai, in the heart of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, “Ancestor’s Tree” is a ripe Pu Erh crafted from old, large-leaf tea bushes grown at an altitude of 1200 meters. The age and stature of these ancient tea bushes, many of which have seen generations pass, bring a unique depth and complexity to the tea, aptly reflecting its name, “Ancestor’s Tree.”
Harvested from third and fourth leaf shoots, this Pu Erh undergoes the traditional “wet-piling” (wo dui) fermentation process, where the leaves are intentionally fragmented and then carefully compacted into a lightly pressed cake. This aging method enhances the tea’s smoothness and imparts a distinctive richness to the liquor over time. Once pressed, the tea continues to age with the subtle aid of ambient moisture, developing a more layered and mature character as the years pass.
Please Note:
Our tea cakes are handcrafted and will not weigh exactly 100g. Variations can occur due to the artisanal pressing process and natural changes during aging, including shifts in moisture content. Each cake is unique, and these differences are a testament to the traditional methods and natural aging process involved.
