About the TEA
This tea has a mineral quality reminiscent of a gemstone encased in rock, with a deep, ruby-like color that inspired the name “Ruby Stone.”
These ripe pu erh dragon balls provide a creamy, indulgent experience with a vibrant mineral character. The infusion has a delicious, sweet flavor akin to liquid milk bread. The aroma is wonderfully complex, with notes of malt, butterscotch, ripe fruits, woody spices, and minerals. After 4–5 steeps, you may feel a gentle warmth and a soothing, relaxed sensation. This tea is perfect for moments of self-care and cultivating a calm, centered state of mind.
Bingdao, a high-altitude village at 1,640 meters in Mengku Town, Shuangjiang County, is famed for its fragrant, ancient tea trees. This picturesque village, surrounded by lush greenery and mild spring-like weather year-round, is one of the earliest tea-growing areas in the county. Bingdao Village is comprised of five natural sub-villages: Bingdao Old Village, Nanpo, Dijie, Bawai, and Nuowu, each well-known for its distinctive tea offerings. Most tea trees here are between 200 to 800 years old, with some believed to be even older.
The village’s residents rely primarily on tea production for income, with two main factories historically focused on black tea processing. Bingdao tea, especially from Bingdao Old Village, has gained significant popularity in the market. The name “Bingdao” translates to “mossy pond” in the local dialect, reflecting the village’s serene natural beauty and abundant greenery.
Located 33 kilometers north of Mengku Town and close to Nanmei Township, Bingdao Village has become a renowned name in the Yunnan tea industry, holding a reputation comparable to that of Nannuo Mountain. Known for its large-leaf tea species, Bingdao is a principal site for the famous Mengku tea variety, with tea cultivation dating back to the Ming dynasty (first recorded in 1485).
