About the TEA
A Squirrel’s Stash – This tea’s warm, nutty aromas and cozy, autumnal feel brought to mind a busy squirrel, stashing its treasures among the golden, sunlit leaves at the base of an old tree. Admittedly, the tea might have made us a bit “tea drunk,” sparking our imaginations as we sipped!
The original name, Yibang Cat Ear, comes from the distinctive shape of its leaves, which resemble a cat’s ears. Sourced from the young leaves and buds of ancient tea trees in Yunnan’s Yibang region, this tea benefits from the area’s rich biodiversity and ideal climate for tea cultivation. As a “raw” Pu Erh, it is minimally processed, allowing it to age naturally and develop complexity over time.
This tea is prized for its bright, lively flavors and intricate profile. When brewed, it produces a clear, vibrant yellow-green liquor with a fresh, floral aroma layered with grassy and subtle earthy notes, evoking the lush Yunnan landscape.
The taste offers a harmonious balance of sweetness and a gentle astringency, with hints of fresh herbs, wildflowers, and a touch of mineral depth. As you steep it, the flavors unfold gracefully, revealing new layers with each infusion. This evolving complexity makes Yibang Cat Ear a delight for tea enthusiasts, offering a journey of discovery with each cup.
Please Note:
Our tea cakes are handcrafted and will not weigh exactly 100g. Variations can occur due to the artisanal pressing process and natural changes during aging, including shifts in moisture content. Each cake is unique, and these differences are a testament to the traditional methods and natural aging process involved.
