About the TEA
This tea earned the name “Rustic Blend” for its captivating combination of buds and large leaves—a blend reminiscent of ancient times, when tea cakes were pressed to ease transportation from the remote mountains of Yunnan to distant regions, including the vast Mongol Empire. Back then, these blends were practical yet flavorful, embodying the rugged beauty of Yunnan’s tea-growing tradition.
For Pu Erh enthusiasts seeking a bold experience, this Xi Gui cake is a must-try. From the first sip, it delivers an intense floral aroma accompanied by a satisfying bitterness that quickly melts into a deep, honeyed sweetness. The aftertaste, or hui gan, is exceptionally long-lasting, leaving a lingering impression on the palate. Its cha qi—or tea energy—is powerful, creating a warming, grounding effect that envelops the body. This tea’s strength and depth make it stand out among other cakes in our collection, with the most pronounced aftertaste and a robust character.
The wet leaves are notably thick, flexible, and richly veined, showcasing the quality of the mature leaves used in this blend. Each steeping reveals a new layer of complexity, making “Rustic Blend” a true journey into the heart of traditional Pu Erh craftsmanship.
Please Note:
Our tea cakes are handcrafted and will not weigh exactly 100g. Variations can occur due to the artisanal pressing process and natural changes during aging, including shifts in moisture content. Each cake is unique, and these differences are a testament to the traditional methods and natural aging process involved.
